WeeFoal™ offers an easy, rapid test for predicting the presence of a foal within a gestational time frame.

TIME FRAME- 120 days after breeding through to day 300 of gestation.

WeeFoal™ urine test can be used to predict and monitor pregnancy status in all breeds of horses, donkeys and zebra, where palpation per rectum or internal ultrasound scanning is not an option, as in the miniature horse or smaller mares.

WeeFoal™ uses lateral flow technology to analyze a small sample of maternal urine for the presence of pregnancy specific steroids secreted by the developing fetal-placental unit, and thereby aid the diagnosis of pregnancy status. Unlike other tests currently in the marketplace, in the event of foetal loss, production of the steroid decreases rapidly to non-pregnant levels

Specificity: 98% (probability of a negative result for non-pregnant mares, 389 mares tested).
Sensitivity: 97.1% (probability of a positive result for mares 120 or more days pregnant, 312 mares tested).
