How many days along does she have to be to use the new Urine test?

  • The Urine test has been used successfully as early as 80 days in Australia however, for best results we strongly suggest at 120 days.

How easy it is the urine test to perform?

  • The new Urine test will be very easy to use. Collect the urine and then dilute the sample. We provide you with the instructions, test unit and collection pipettes. Not hard and no needles.

How am I going to get a urine sample from my mare?
  • Horses, on the average, urinate about every 6 hours. You just have to watch her and see where she goes either on the ground or in the collection device. Some small specks of dirt will not affect the test collection, you can strain it. We will insert a page of instructions and diagram for you to make your own collection device out of normal kitchen plastic goods that would hook onto their blanket. Very easy. Too see more on how this can be done, see our on-line example.

How soon can I run a test after the collection of the urine?

  • Once the urine is collected you can refrigerate or freeze it.  We strongly suggest that you use a 4 hour window to run the test unit.

If I am doing the serum test, how long should I wait from breeding to testing?

  • At least 120 days should have elapsed since breeding services before a 'Foal-Proof' test is run. It is not recommended to use 'Foal-Proof' earlier than this.
